The conversation you keep not having

Somewhere along the way, part of you learned that certain wants were too much.

So you filed them away. Or you hinted once and watched the room cool. Or you performed a version of desire that fit, and slowly stopped feeling much of anything.

Maybe you know exactly what you want and can't say it. Maybe you and your partner want different things, and every attempt ends in the same standoff. None of it means something is wrong with you. It means the conversation hasn't had a safe enough room. That room is the point.

Why a weekend

Not another year of Tuesdays.

You can't get tender about the most private parts of yourself for fifty minutes, then carry it home for a week and hope it survives.

A weekend gives the conversation room to happen, and to finish. We slow all the way down, take the shame out of the room, and let you say the true thing out loud — together, with someone who won't flinch.

I'm kink-aware, and I don't treat desire as a symptom. Power exchange, opening the relationship, a fantasy you've never voiced, a mismatch you've quietly grieved — it gets spoken about as ordinary human wanting.

What the weekend looks like

One immersive weekend, built around the two of you and your schedule.

First, a free 90 minutes

Before any commitment, we meet for a full 90 minutes at no charge and begin mapping the wants, the fears, and the quiet rules that kept the real conversation off the table.

The weekend

Deep, experiential work where the honest conversation about desire finally gets the room and the time to happen, and to land.

Integration

A follow-up session a few weeks later to anchor what's opened up and support what you've decided to build together.

David Lieberman, LMFT

David Lieberman, LMFTI'd rather you meet me before you decide anything. That's what the first conversation is for.

Is this you?

  • You want to talk about kink or power exchange and don't know how to start.
  • Your desires and your partner's don't match, and the gap has become a silence.
  • You've been circling the idea of opening your relationship and need a room honest enough to explore it.
  • Shame tends to reach the conversation before you do.
  • You've carried a fantasy, or a part of who you are, that you've never fully brought home.
  • One of you is curious and one of you is scared, and you're both tired of the standoff.

Common questions

What is kink-affirming couples therapy?

It's couples work that treats kink, power exchange, and non-traditional desire as ordinary parts of a relationship rather than problems to fix or explain away. The focus isn't on diagnosing anyone's wants, it's on helping two people say the true thing to each other and decide, together, what they want to build. Nothing about your desire needs to be justified before we begin.

We have a big desire discrepancy. Can a weekend actually help?

Often, yes — because a desire discrepancy usually isn't about the gap in wanting, it's about everything that's gone unsaid around it. A weekend gives that conversation enough room to move past the familiar standoff into something honest, instead of reliving it in fifty-minute pieces. The goal isn't to make you want the same things, it's to author a shared way forward you can both stand inside.

You don't need to arrive certain.

You need a room where the truth about desire can finally be spoken, without it costing you the relationship. That's what the weekend is for.
